Growth Equity for Tech Companies: What, Why and How
from TIE-Boston
This event has passed.
Wednesday, April 23, 2008, 6:30pm - 9:30pm

Venture capital (for early stages of a firm) and private equity (for very late stages of a firm) are well-known and well-understood classes of capital. However, what is an entrepreneur to do when his/her company is too mature for venture capital (beyond product and market risk), too early for private equity (lack of historical and consistent profitability and/or too small a revenue stream), but one that still needs capital along with engaged help and advice from seasoned investors? Or perhaps an entrepreneur wants to execute a roll-up strategy in a space he/she knows well? This capital can be for acquisitions, a balance sheet recapitalization that may involve founder liquidity, or just speeding up organic growth. That's where growth equity comes in.

In recent years, growth equity for tech companies has emerged as a distinct asset class to serve this need, and the Boston metro area now has a number of well-established tech-focused growth equity firms. Come listen to our panel consisting of investors, entrepreneurs and bankers to understand the What, Why and How of tech-focused growth equity.

Moderator:
Vaibhav Nalwaya, Principal, Key Venture Partners

Panelists:
John P. Ward, Managing Director, Key Venture Partners
