Come and learn about opportunities for setting up R&D centers in Near Shore, English speaking countries.
Brazil, Russia, India and China (BRIC) offer promises of great costs savings and low compensation costs, but the dirty little secret that isn't often acknowledged is that a company probably can't make this sort of move unless it already has foreign born and speaking senior staffers to help them deal with their foreign located co-workers. Also, first world services (data access, first class office space & other necessary infrastructure) for knowledge workers in these countries is not cheap. Throw in 10-12 hour time differences and it becomes too much for most tech companies. What is less well known is that Canada, Ireland and Northern Ireland have some very attractive programs to encourage tech companies to develop their own R&D groups in their countries.
