Needle-Free Powder Injection for Delivering Drugs and Vaccines
With the present safety issues clouding pulmonary delivery there is a revival in transdermal technologies. Previously, needle-free injection did not meet expectations because of the pain associated with the devices. Our needle-free powder injection device delivers biologicals and vaccines intradermally without pain while improving safety and efficacy. This needle-free technology allows to deliver drugs and vaccines in powder form at supersonic speed into the skin layers, with up to ten times the payload of any other system in development. In addition, the formulation in powder form may obviate the need for cold storage. Some preliminary preclinical case studies will be presented to illustrate the versatility of this technology for the transdermal delivery of biologicals and vaccines.

Iontophoretic-Based Drug Delivery for Transdermal Applications
In the area of transdermal drug delivery, Transport Pharmaceutical's ETS (Electrokinetic Transdermal/Transungual System) Drug/Device convergence technology combines novel medical electronics with proprietary formulations of drugs. SoloVir(TM) ETS, Phase 2 for herpes labialis, is a single 10-minute patient administered treatment which results in skin concentrations of the most commonly used anti-viral drug that are 100 times greater than seen with oral or topical applications. The focus of the talk will be on the development and clinical results of Solovir ETS as well as proof of concept experimental work for future applications involving iontophoretic delivery of large molecules and biologics.
