Financial Services Forum: Congressman Barney Frank
from Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce
This event has passed.
Thursday, March 20, 2008, 7:45am - 9:00am
First elected to Congress in 1980, Congressman Barney Frank has played a key role in bringing transportation funds to the Greater Boston region, fostering economic growth, and preserving jobs in local industries such as biotechnology and financial services. After the democrats retrieved the majority in congress following last year’s elections, Frank swiftly put fourth a 'Grand Bargain' with business, whereby Congress would agree to reduce regulations and support free-trade deals in exchange for businesses agreeing to greater wage increases and job benefits for workers. As chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, Frank has been an advocate for reducing the high cost of compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, and has worked to lessen the impact of the sub-prime mortgage crisis on the economy.
